Gold & Silver Viking Ship. This Viking ship has been designed and made using a variety of
materials and techniques that are unique to Ireland’s rich culture and
    heritage.

The base of the ship is made of Green Connemara Marble, mined from a small
quarry in the west of Ireland. Interestingly, the marble would have been
originally formed over 500 million years ago in Australia, and then through
the movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates would have eventually
    surfaced in Ireland.

The ship has been hand carved from a piece of bog oak by Irish sculptor
Brian O’Loughlin. Bog Oak is created when wood becomes buried in peat bogs,
which due to their high acidity levels are capable of preserving the wood
for hundreds and even thousands of years. The ship’s finer details have
been crafted in 18ct yellow gold and sterling silver, using
metal-working techniques such as hand forging and repoussé perfected by
    Celtic craftsmen in ancient Ireland.

The oars, which were hammered out individually and then polished to a high
shine, are reflected in the polished slivers of water beneath the boat.
