Each coin has been handmade in sterling silver. The shape and form of each coin is based on the original hand forged coins traded by the Celts in Ancient Ireland. These first coins were heavy pieces of pure metal, which over time came to feature symbolic images such as the Salmon of Wisdom, or the Bull. On the back of each coin is a different series of spirals, perhaps the most famous of all imagery used by the Celtic people of early Ireland.

The crescent shaped stand for each coin has been hand carved by Irish Sculptor Brian O’Loughlin. Bog Oak is created when wood becomes buried in peat bogs, which due to their high acidity levels are capable of preserving the wood for hundreds or even thousands of years.

The soft crescent moon shape of each piece of ancient bog oak features a unique pattern of deeply ingrained ripples and fissures radiating from the centre of each piece. These ripples are mirrored by the fragmented pieces of polished silver that are set in the centre of each piece of sculpture, a tribute to the Moon and its luminescence that was so revered by the Celts in Ancient Ireland.
