My engagement ring is vintage with an oval solitaire with pavé set diamond shoulders. I was dreading the thought of trying to find a curved vintage wedding ring that would compliment this and fit in snugly along side it. I had already accepted the fact that this may not be possible based on what was available on the high street.
I had never thought of getting our wedding rings custom made until my attention was drawn to a friend’s ring. Her beautiful wedding band had been handcrafted by Luisa. My friend described the enjoyable process this involved and afterwards I was totally sold on the idea. Every element of our wedding had been tailored to our personal taste so we were delighted to discover that our rings could also be designed to our style. As our wedding bands were to be a symbol of our ever-lasting love for one another it meant a huge amount to us that they were perfect in every way.
After my first meeting with Luisa all my previous concerns instantly vanished. From the moment we started discussing the rings, I was very excited about what was possible thanks to her remarkable craftsmanship and expertise. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about her work. I am a creative person and I am certain of what I like, so working with Luisa felt like a true collaboration. She invested so much time and energy in ensuring that we were getting exactly what we wanted. On top of this Luisa was so accommodating in the busy months leading up to our wedding.
Luisa understood my vision from what I described, and without having to compromise on this or my budget, she conceived the perfect design that satisfied both. The end result was diamond studded platinum band that slotted elegantly beside my current ring like a jigsaw piece. Luisa echoed all the design elements of my existing engagement ring, they matched like a perfect pair. The wedding band is exquisitely beautiful.
My husband is not a fan of men’s jewellery and was very reluctant to wear a wedding ring. The format in which Luisa works was the perfect match. She initially made a “mock” ring in silver for Peter to wear and review. This was ideal as Peter got the opportunity to trial the design before committing to it. He was uncertain of the first traditional style wedding ring mock up, so Luisa extracted more information from him and designed another mock ring. He liked it so much he didn’t want to give it back! I was so relieved that we hadn’t just gone out and bought it with no turn back point. He was even more delighted when he saw the real thing! The palladium wedding band is an incredible piece of craftsmanship. The precision and the attention to detail is remarkable.
The final surprise was the ring box. This must be mentioned in its own right. The box enclosure was constructed from smoothly polished Irish marble, which then covers an indigenous beech wood base; in itself it’s an objet d’art and truly original.
Since wearing the rings we have received so many compliments, it gives me no greater pleasure than to recommend Luisa- a master jeweller with a personality to match. You could not meet a nicer person. I wish her every success; I know Luisa won’t stay a hidden gem for too long!
